And what is battle cruiser radio, exactly?

Post 4 by FlyingPhoenix (move over school!) on Friday, 07-Mar-2008 4:09:26

Our new site is up, with the second to be up soon, the web address is http://www.bc-radio.net/ and we feature some of your favorite DJs like Nisa and DJ Toni. We hope to offer a listening environment that both the sighted and blind can both enjoy. We offer many things, Myspace, Facebook, a history page and forum. We are working on getting our ventrilo server back up and I am working on the download manager for archives. We will soon also have another website http://www.bc-radio.org/ but this is currently not up. currently the only thing not working after the move is the poll system and I'm working on that as I'm typing right now. Nisa is working on another never been done first by a blind ran station. An unsigned artist spotlight. Also contests are coming soon!!!

Oh and for those of you that dont like loudcity heres the direct link I'm not supposed to give out http://sc3.spacialnet.com:23010/

Post 6 by Toonhead71 (move over school!) on Friday, 07-Mar-2008 17:30:17

why is this a first for a blind ran station? who gives a shit wether or not it's run by a blind person or not? I don't mean to come off sounding mean with the words i'm using here, seriously. The disabilities of the people doing the programming are completely irrelevant to me. I don't care if you're blind or sighted or whatever, just do a good show and i'll listen if I like it. and i'll tell my friends to tune in as well. Seriously this is radio. Everyone, blind or sighted can listen if they know how. You got a computer and ian internet connection and a pare of good working ears, that's what counts here, least to me.

Post 7 by FlyingPhoenix (move over school!) on Friday, 07-Mar-2008 17:41:14

well to me it could start a tread to be the first blind ran station to do something is a achievement to me. your centering on the disabilities. We are not pointing out the fact its ran by the blind. What I should have said is that my station is working on some major firsts for the stations I've seen.

Post 8 by Nick6489 (11 years a Zoner) on Saturday, 08-Mar-2008 0:25:58

I have to give credit for changing the station's name. So many people choose to use their disabbility as part of the name for their station, and Justin at least had the inteligence enough to realise that that's not good. Or, and Justin, the term you're looking for is "This corner of internet radio."

Post 9 by FlyingPhoenix (move over school!) on Saturday, 08-Mar-2008 1:38:44

ok folks minus the cache issue on my end with the site all should be up and working except the download manager and thats because I'm redoing the code to suit my needs.

Post 10 by fuzzy101 (The master of fuzz!!) on Saturday, 08-Mar-2008 18:16:09

Probably the most successful ran blind station would be ACB radio. They are about the most blind oriented you can get. Asside from not making it impossible to broadcast, what do you intend to do that's different from them?

Post 11 by FlyingPhoenix (move over school!) on Saturday, 08-Mar-2008 18:23:58

I intend to have Both the Sighted and blind DJ, We will have contests, like we are currently working on one but cant decide on the prize. We want to offer the best content that we possibly can. The mission of the radio station is to provide a place for our listeners to be an interactive part of what we do, We have polls, contests and our unsigned artist spotlight for this. We also dont just play todays mainstream artists, we also play artists that are unsigned from all over the world and you can even hear a few of your fellow zoners on there as DJs and as well as having their music played. If I missed it completely let me know. I wont beg people to listen but do check us out. I'm not sure if ACB does talk shows but we do those as well.

Post 12 by FlyingPhoenix (move over school!) on Saturday, 08-Mar-2008 18:25:43

also our download manager is something ACB does not have I believe.

Post 13 by fuzzy101 (The master of fuzz!!) on Saturday, 08-Mar-2008 18:44:09

ACB does indeed have talk shows.
There main menu channel is infact talk swhows most if not all of them blind related.
And you can downlad the archives for that channel at least.
I don't think however that they offer archives for the other channels.

Post 14 by FlyingPhoenix (move over school!) on Saturday, 08-Mar-2008 18:55:46

Most of our DJs will have archives, we have 10 DJs currently and of that 10, at least 7 of them will have archives I believe

Post 22 by Toonhead71 (move over school!) on Thursday, 13-Mar-2008 22:48:01

This is one thing that bugs me about these promotional ttopics. You see a whole lot more posts by the person who actually started the topic, rather than the people who you hope to listen to the station. Make sure your website is looking reasonably good and has all the information the listeners will need on it, and then post it here. If people like it, they'll go to the site and tune in. posting 20 times in the same topic really makes you look desperate for listeners. If your programming is good enough, people will tune in and stay tuned in. and they'll tell their friends. I think promoting special events is ok, but i look at all these topics promoting these stations and it's cringe inducing because the only person talking about the station is the guy who owns the station. Just post one or two times, posting all these times may actually keep folks away.

Post 23 by FlyingPhoenix (move over school!) on Friday, 14-Mar-2008 17:49:52

Well if you want a contest to be promoted then tune in during april for the weekly battlecruiser scramble, where we scramble up a song, play a bit for you and then make you call in and tell us the song correctly artist an title for a Cd or a paypal payment prize of our choosing

Post 29 by FlyingPhoenix (move over school!) on Monday, 27-Oct-2008 8:21:20

ok I've basically turned this into a update board. We had to find a new company for hosting since the one we had for over a year closed. we can now be found at http://www.bcradio.org

Post 30 by margorp (I've got the gold prolific poster award, now is there a gold cup for me?) on Monday, 27-Oct-2008 12:57:48

I agree with what tunehead said.
just say what you have to say and step back.

Post 31 by FlyingPhoenix (move over school!) on Monday, 27-Oct-2008 22:07:46

excuse me son look at the fucking dates, between his posts and my ones after. I've done nothing but updates its not advertising. Get off your high horse and leave it alone I could see your comment if I was going "tune in at bcradio.org" instead this was letting the listeners know that if they want to the website has changed.
